Anthony Herrejon – Biography
I started martial arts as a kid in Tae Kwon Do, eventually becoming an assistant instructor. Teaching came naturally to me back then, and it’s something I still love today.
Later, I spent five years working in security, and I had a few close calls where I realized how valuable Jiu Jitsu could be. When COVID hit in 2020 and gyms were closed, my friend Cameron (who has since earned his black belt) invited me to come try out a class. I was surprised to find that a world-class Gracie school was right here in such a small city—it felt like the perfect opportunity.
From that first class, I was hooked. Jiu Jitsu gave me discipline, confidence, and community when I needed it most. It’s challenged me in ways I didn’t expect and helped me grow both on and off the mats.
I’m proud to have earned my brown belt under Omar Salum, a 4-time IBJJF World Champion, and I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with kids, teens, and adults. For me, Jiu Jitsu isn’t just about self-defense—it’s about showing up, staying consistent, and helping the person next to you do the same.
